New construction. The original modest 1100 sf home doubles in size with the goal of moving all private living spaces to the top floor while keeping a guest quarters/office on the main floor.
With the previous choppy and cutoff floor plan, the young homeowners wanted to create an open concept living with a strong connection to the outdoors for when they entertain the many block parties which we achieved by adding a 11’ tall x 12’ pocket door that lends a seamless transition to the outdoor living space. The living room also features a partial vaulted ceiling to the second floor Juliette balcony so that a connection from every room is met.
The exterior features a white smooth trowel stucco that is complemented by a vertical clad western red cedar that is stained black. The south facing master suit features a fun punched up window that break the simple gable roof design which allows for increased natural light and views for days.
