New construction. The original modest 1100 sf home doubles in size with the goal of moving all private living spaces to the top floor while keeping a guest quarters/office on the main floor.
With the previous choppy and cutoff floor plan, the young homeowners wanted to create an open concept living with a strong connection to the outdoors for when they entertain the many block parties which we achieved by adding a 11’ tall x 12’ pocket door that lends a seamless transition to the outdoor living space. The living room also features a partial vaulted ceiling to the second floor Juliette balcony so that a connection from every room is met.
The exterior features a white smooth trowel stucco that is complemented by a vertical clad western red cedar that is stained black. The south facing master suit features a fun punched up window that break the simple gable roof design which allows for increased natural light and views for days.
A restaurant owner has all the bells and whistles in their commercial kitchen, but neglected their own….. until now.
The homeowners had a simple wish for their existing 920 sf 2bed/2bath home in Redondo Beach - create a master suite addition. Given carte blanche, a creative addition coined “peekaboo” developed through a series of 10 meticulously placed punched through windows that not only provides a sense of privacy in the office hallways leading into the master, but a fun source of defused light that shifts throughout the day.
A vaulted hemlock ceiling brings a sense of grandeur to the master that is complemented by a floor the ceiling cement tile electric fireplace that heats up to 400 sf. We continued playing with the visual space by extending your eye up by incorporating full height recessed track pocket doors and a floor to ceiling wall to wall closet.
The hemlock ceiling continues into the master bath where a large skylight washes in more natural light. A his and hers floating vanity pairs with a stand alone custom make-up vanity. The large walk-in shower features a recessed rain shower, bench, and a playful cement tile the lines the feature wall.
This one of a kind home takes full advantage of the beach views on the hillside community it sits perched up on. The design brief was to create a warm palette of natural solid materials that pays homage to fine craftsmanship along with filling the space with natural light. This simplistic yet detailed design is both calming in nature and balanced aiding in a true zen experience.

Is full scale remodel and addition. A complete haul was done to transform this post war 1950’s bungalow into a warm costal retreat that sits minutes from the beach. Classic white hardie lap siding pairs with new black aluminum windows. We added vertical 1×4 clear cedar siding to the front that adds warmth and also aids in breaking up the monochromatic facade.
Inside, the kitchen and bedrooms were all reorientated to create a more cohesive floor plan and open concept living that connects both the indoor and outdoor spaces. Now, with an integrated hot tub in the deck, the family can still enjoy movie nights from the large tv that projects outside.

Transformed from a popcorn banana colored stucco home into a timeless sleek design on the bend of this cul-de-sac street.
This Japanese forward design approach was crafted by the clients wishes to completely transform the interior with a main focus on providing a designated in-law master suite that can be privately divided off for future living.
A small rear addition provided the footprint needed to relocate the kitchen and give the homeowners a true chef driven kitchen with ample kitchen island seating, counter space and storage, a connection to the living space, and two counter height windows that open to an exterior bbq kitchen.
With a uniquely crafted floor plan, we were able to carve out a true game room for our “gamers at heart” clients. When it’s time to retreat, the newly designed master suite features a 60” round Japanese soaking tub for those moments of zen.
Sitting on a hillside corner lot, this attached rear ADU is prime for the best views in town. This unique design approach was crafted with adding volume to the 950 sf footprint. Vaulted ceilings allows the space to feel bigger while the skylights allow for great circulation and passive air flow.
Of course, we can’t deny the 12’ slider door in both the living room and master suite that captures the beautiful LA views when stepping out onto the new redwood deck that extends the living space.
